As Regional Body Leading Hand at Transport for NSW, Chris has a big remit. He's responsible for repairing and maintaining the State Transit fleet to ensure NSW commuters and other public transport users have a safe, comfortable and satisfying journey.
His day-to-day duties involve managing staff and organising workflows to produce a high quantity of quality repairs and maintenance work. When he's not managing his team, Chris works alongside his staff welding, fabricating, repairing, painting and refurbishing buses to improve their condition and presentation.
“We're all about providing clean, presentable and reliable buses to meet operational and customer needs,” says Chris.
Chris' varied tasks and continuous opportunities for development in his role are just some of the things he enjoys most about his job.
“I like that the wide variety of work changes daily. I can be spray painting a full bus one day, and repairing panels or fabricating frameworks the following day. I can be working with plastics, wood, glass, metal, rubber, vinyl and many more materials on a wide range of different vehicles,” he enthuses.
“There’s also endless skills and knowledge to be learnt in the industry, and I get a great sense of achievement and satisfaction in completing work and knowing it's benefitting the people of NSW.”
When he's not busy repairing and maintaining our public transport fleet, Chris also has a keen interest in restoring and building classic and custom cars and motorbikes, as well as in personal training, health and fitness, music, travelling, and a vast range of land, water and snow sports.
