Jayden joined the NSW Government Graduate Program after completing a Master’s in Public Health.
“I was drawn to the Program because I am passionate about helping people achieve their goals and aspirations and I believe two of the best ways you can do that is to invent something or help influence public policy,” he says.
Since starting the Program as a Policy Graduate in 2016, Jayden has completed placements at the Ministry of Health and the Department of Education.
“I’ve learned a lot from each of my placements and from the teams I have been a part of. During my rotation at the Department of Education I was responsible for building an application to help record and report on Beginning Teacher Support Funding,” Jayden explains.
This funding is a key strategy to assist teachers who are entering the profession. The app ensures beginning teachers are getting the right funding at the right time and helps to ensure the development of these teachers and the pupils in their classrooms.
“The project was a great way to develop my project management abilities, gain a deeper understanding about the role policy plays at the ground level and learn the skills of process improvement,” Jayden says.
Outside of work Jayden enjoys playing soccer, organising events for young leaders and is currently developing a platform for young musical theatre talent to showcase their skills.
