Elissa discovered her passion for emergency services while at university.
She went on to complete a Masters of Criminology, during which she realised she wanted to pursue a career in the public sector.
“One of the reasons I applied to the NSW Graduate Program was because I was looking for a way into the sector and I knew it would lead to even bigger and better things,” Elissa says.
During the Program, Elissa has completed placements at the Department of Justice and the Ministry of Health. She has now embarked on her final rotation of the Program in the Aboriginal workforce team at the Public Service Commission.
“One of the projects I am most proud of took place while I was working as a Policy and Programs Officer in Corrective Services at the Department of Justice. I played a big role in the development of a practical guide for intervention which involved creating workshops and worksheets designed for offenders,” Elissa explains.
“It’s rewarding to know that these resources are starting to have an impact and can play a role in reducing the rate of reoffending.”
When she’s not in the office, Elissa enjoys catching up with friends and being active.
