On Monday 13th February it was announced that the NSW Government Graduate Program has risen by twenty positions, from 60 to 40, in the 2017 Top 100 Graduate Employers List, organised by the Australian Financial Review and Grad Connection. Such a significant increase in ranking has earned NSW Government Graduate Program the status of ‘star mover’ in this year’s list.
Graeme Head, Public Service Commissioner said: “I am delighted that in the second year of running our Graduate Program, we have made a big leap forward in the Top 100 Graduate Employer rankings. Many graduates choose to launch their career in NSW Government because of the opportunity to make a tangible and lasting difference.. In addition, as Australia’s largest employer, working for NSW opens up unparalleled career choice through the scope and scale of roles, projects and diversity of our people. The aim of our Graduate Program is to identify and develop the leaders of tomorrow and to do that successfully we must compete with other graduate employers to attract high-calibre applicants. We hope to emulate our success again next year and continue to climb the list.”
Since the NSW Public Service Commission launched a government-wide graduate program in 2016, applications have nearly doubled. Now in 2017, the number of graduate roles has increased from 25 to over 100 and this year the NSW Government Graduate Program features an Information Communication Technology (ICT) stream for the first time.
Graduates joining the ICT stream of NSW’s Program will grow the pipeline of ICT skills and capabilities that are in high demand across the NSW Public Sector and play a critical role in developing future infrastructure and the delivery ofservices to the people of NSW.
