  • Term opportunity for a period up to seven (7) years
  • Sydney CBD based role
  • Remuneration package at $308,440 per annum plus $16,990 conveyance allowance

The Workers Compensation Commission of NSW (WCC) is an independent statutory tribunal within the NSW justice system that resolves workers compensation disputes. Deputy Presidents hear and determine appeals from decisions of Arbitrators. Decisions of Deputy Presidents may be appealed to the NSW Court of Appeal.

The WCC now seeks to appoint an appropriately qualified and experienced full-time Deputy President. The Deputy President will be located in Sydney.

The Deputy President is responsible for the determination of appeals on the decisions of Arbitrators in relation to disputes about workers' compensation entitlements. This is a great opportunity for a legal practitioner to join the Commission and apply their knowledge, skills, qualifications and experience in the resolution of workers compensation disputes, including the determination of appeals.

An attractive salary package is offered. Appointment will be for a term up to seven years, with eligibility for reappointment.

Applicants are eligible for appointment if a current or former judicial officer or Australian lawyer of at least 5 years’ standing. Current and extensive knowledge of the NSW workers compensation legislation is highly desirable.

You will be rewarded with an important role in making sound legal judgments and case law determinations about benefits for injured workers.
