The Team and the Role:

The IR Group contributes and leads in development of industrial strategies which can apply to more than 300,000 employees across New South Wales and provide industrial relations advice and support to key internal and external stakeholders.

The role of Advisor is not only interesting and strategic, but can provide a professional with new, daily challenges. You will contribute to the development of strategic solutions and industrial relations advice.  Working within a small but high performing team you will provide in-depth analysis of industrial relations issues and develop, co-ordinate and integrate high quality and timely policy analysis. 

Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the development of policy and strategic solutions to enhance policy initiatives, provide advice and contribute to project teams to meet the needs and objectives of the Agency.
  • Provide high quality, timely advice, information and proposals to stakeholders for the effective implementation of key government policies, initiatives and industrial relations matters.
  • Contribute to and prepare advice in the form of briefings, policy and discussion papers and prepare documentation required for industrial matters and draft briefs, reports and discussion papers to respond to Ministerial, Cabinet or Departmental requests.
  • Liaise with stakeholders and industrial parties and practitioners to facilitate information exchange, consultations and negotiations and to gain early intelligence on potential industrial activity and issues. 
Key Skills and Experience:

To be successful you will have relevant Tertiary Qualifications and/or demonstrated experience/knowledge in developing strategic solutions and providing high quality industrial relations advice.  A sound working knowledge and understanding of industrial relations and employment legislation, public sector policies and practices and of industrial / employee relations.
