"My respective teams and I make a real difference to the community, leaving a legacy for the people who live, work and visit NSW."

Jason Gordon is the Chief Engineer at the Asset Standards Authority in Freight, Strategy and Planning at Transport for NSW.

His role is in engineering with Roads and Maritime Services, but he is currently on secondment with Transport for NSW.

For as long as he can remember, Jason Gordon has wanted to ‘build things and be a boss’.

He launched his career as a Civil Engineer council cadet in his hometown of Bourke. After a successful career in local government, he worked for himself for a few years before joining Roads and Maritime Services as a senior manager.

Though based in the City, Jason makes the most of Transport’s flexible working options. In a typical week he works two days at his headquarters in Chatswood, one each at other locations in the city, and one working from his home in the Southern Highlands.

“Both engineering roles mean my respective teams and I make a real difference to the community, leaving a legacy for the people who live, work and visit NSW. Where else can you be involved in the planning of infrastructure, be involved in the delivery and then show your family what you helped to produce?”

Jason is a proud Barkindji man. He lives with this wife and three young daughters on acreage in Bowral. Jason and his family spend much of their free time gardening – at last count they had 300 roses and 40 peonies.
