“I enjoy helping people.”

“It’s my responsibility to assist people to achieve the best chance for a fulfilled and satisfied state of function in their day-to-day life after illness or accident,” says Geordy, Occupational Therapy Assistant for Orange Health Service.

Through his ambition to make a difference and by continually undertaking training in his field, Geordy progressed in his career to where he is today.

“I had a foretaste of my desire to help people through the health field when I started my career quite a while ago as a trainee psych nurse – a role I left a year or so later. Just over a year after that, I re-entered the health field and restarted my journey as a physio assistant in a rural hospital. After years of working and training, I then progressed to an Occupational Therapy Assistant in a major rural hospital, which is what I still do today, while still remaining close to home,” he explains.

Providing assistance and support to the Occupational Therapy Team under the supervision of health professionals, Geordy’s years of experience combined with his passion for helping others mean he’s a valuable asset to both his team and his patients.

It’s the diverse nature of both his role and his patients that drives him in his work.

“I enjoy the diversity of my role through the tasks I do and the people I meet and assist,” he says.

Outside of work, Geordy recently started to investigate his family heritage of yesteryears.

“I’m really interested in exploring my family tree and learning the stories behind my ancestors,” he says.
