Associate Director Project Controls

  • Fixed Term role (up to 36 months) – based in Sydney Metro’s modern CBD offices

Transport for NSW is delivering a once-in-a-century investment in new infrastructure and services, including Sydney Metro. As a NSW Government statutory authority, Sydney Metro has been tasked with developing, delivering and operating Sydney’s new world-class metro railway system. 
 

The first line of this new fully automated railway opened earlier this year. By 2024 Sydney Metro will have delivered 31 metro stations and more than 66 kms of metro rail. Planning is also underway for future metro lines which will shape the way Australia’s largest city travels, making Sydney Metro one of the most iconic public transport projects in the nation’s history.

 
The opportunity
 

We have an opportunity for an Associate Director Project Controls to join Sydney Metro’s City and Southwest PMO team.  Reporting to the  Director Project Management Office, you will lead and manage elements of Integrated Project Controls across multiple Implementation Groups within the City and Southwest project.

 

The  role will drive accurate, consistent and timely reporting and analysis on the status of the Project, to facilitate successful project and program delivery, including all critical project and program delivery interfaces with other divisions and agencies within TfNSW.

 

The role holder may have both direct reports and manage a team of Project Controls consultants, within a matrix structure and is expected to have extensive experience and a corresponding gravitas that will enable them to successfully both influence and hold to account colleagues at all levels across the Project in relation to Project Controls best practice.

 
 
About you
  • You are a proven professional looking for a career-defining opportunity to build a legacy for generations to come.
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in construction, engineering, finance or related fields from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • You will have demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of integrated project controls with in complex rail and/or major  infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to monitor, interpret schedules and other project changes and forecast their impact on project costs
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and the allocation of resources to achieve best for project outcomes.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across a wide variety of stakeholders, contractors and service providers. 
  • Highly organised individual with a collaborative and persuasive approach to project management.
