Casual Correctional Officers – Bathurst & Central West 


An exciting opportunity exists for casual Correctional Officers to join our growing team at our Bathurst and Central West (Kirkonnell, Lithgow & Oberon) Correctional Centres.   

About the role:

  • 24 hours, 7 days a week rotating shift roster.
  • Provide safety, security, welfare and rehabilitation of inmates/offenders.
  • Conducting daily searches and musters.
  • Locate and remove illegal and restricted substances whilst undertaking searches.
  • Manage inmates of all classifications.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring and security at all times.
  • Undertake all custody related administrative duties.
  • Maintain confidentiality.


Requirements of the role:

  • Must be a minimum age of 18 years old.
  • Hold a valid and full driver's license (with no restrictions).
  • Must be an Australia or New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Willing and able to work irregular shift patterns/hours of work (shifts up to 8 hours, 7 days a week).
  • Be available to work at short notice (calls for casual work are after 5pm for work on the following day).
  • Competent to safely handle a firearm.
  • Ensure you meet the minimum medical standards and be of a reasonable fitness level.
  • Be a team player with good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have foundational computer skills.
  • Able to adhere to dress code including no visible inappropriate or offensive tattoos.
