School Infrastructure NSW

The NSW Government has committed the biggest education infrastructure investment in history – a huge $4.2 billion over the next four years to build more than 120 new and upgraded schools, and a record breaking $747 million to tackle maintenance across 2,200 public schools within the state.

Our Mandate
Schools Infrastructure NSW (SINSW) is a centre of excellence within the Department of Education, for the planning, design, delivery and maintenance of school facilities.

Its vision is to deliver world-class school infrastructure solutions to support the aspiration of the NSW public education system, to be one of the finest in the world.

The Roles
Two senior executive roles have been created in the Office of the Chief Executive. Both positions will lead a team of up to 20 staff with up to five direct reports.

With the largest capital investment program in school infrastructure ever, strategic communications, issues management, stakeholder and community engagement is critical.

SINSW seeks a highly experienced senior communications executive to drive and implement strategies across three key delivery teams – policy and government relations, media, stakeholder and community engagement.
The right candidate will be an inspiring leader, who has successfully developed and driven proactive communications and understands the challenges associated with engagement at all levels.

Knowledge and proven success in issues management, strategic communications and emerging opportunities including digital engagement is a must, as well as experience in providing high level strategic counsel to the Senior Executive Team within a complex government environment.
Stakeholder and relationship management skills, as well as the ability to build networks will be essential to navigate a complex and fast paced operating environment defined by large scale projects across the department, Local and State Government, industry and communities.

Relevant tertiary qualification and/or experience in communications, public affairs, issue management and marketing in a large diverse service industry and/ or organisation are required.

Providing leadership and strategic direction across procurement, legal and contract management, finance, ICT and human resources within SINSW, the Director, Business Services will be critical to delivery of strategic customer centric support services for SINSW.

Proven expertise in procurement and commercial contract management of a large construction budget is essential. Accountability for a commercially focussed procurement function prioritising the development of a centre of procurement excellence governed by an innovative yet pragmatic approach to risk while maintaining good financial management and governance frameworks is a core responsibility for the Director, Business Services.

A highly autonomous role, this role would suit a senior executive with public and/or private sector experience, preferably in the construction sector. Strong people management skills, with superior communication capability including negotiation, contract management and performance evaluation abilities will be essential. While some experience across the range of business services disciplines would be advantageous, commercial expertise in procurement and finance as it relates to large scale capital investment in infrastructure will be critical to your success.

A business-related tertiary qualification and relevant career experience in a diverse and complex operating environment is required.

To apply for these roles confidentially, please submit your cover letter and resume in one document to sinswdirectorcomms@kornferry.com for the Director Communications position or sinswdirectorbusservices@kornferry.com for the Director, Business Services position.

Applications close Thursday 5 April 2018.
