Where you'll be working

Griffith Base Hospital is a 117 bed C1 peer grouped  hospital providing a range of acute specialist services (both resident & visiting) including emergency medicine, general medicine,  surgery, paediatric medicine, oncology, obstetrics, intensive care, respiratory medicine, renal dialysis and rheumatology.  Each year there are approximately 19,500 emergency presentations, 2,500 operations and 540 births. Additional services at Griffith Base Hospital include physiotherapy, dietetics, pharmacy, occupational therapy and Aboriginal health. There are also a range of diagnostic services including Pathology, CT, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, General X-Ray and Mammography.  



What you'll be doing

The Enrolled Nurse works with the registered nurse/midwife (RN/RM) as part of the health care team and demonstrates competence in the provision of person-centred care. Core practice generally requires the EN to work under the direct or indirect supervision of the RN/RM. At all times, the EN retains responsibility for his/her actions and remains accountable in providing delegated nursing care.


What we're looking for
  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA), with demonstrated evidence to meet the NMBA's Enrolled Nurse standards for practice and meet the NMBA approved standards, codes, guidelines and frameworks commensurate with the position
  • Demonstrates continuous quality improvement with the ability to provide: direct/indirect care including ability to assess; plan, implement and evaluate nursing practice; provide safe, appropriate and responsive quality nursing practice
  • Demonstrated competencies in and/or knowledge of the complexities and challenges involved in caring for individuals and their family in the specific area of employment to an EN Scope of Practice
  • Demonstrated understanding of the need for therapeutic and professional relationships, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team in a rural health setting
  • Reflective and analytical nursing practice with a willingness embrace change responsible for the delegated care they provide and self-monitor their work
  • Evidence of a current Class C drivers licence and ability and willingness to travel for work purposes. This may involve driving long distances with the MLHD
