National Parks and Wildlife Service manages, conserves and cares for land in national parks and reserves. NPWS links customer, conservation and cultural outcomes in a sustainable way by building participation in the management and use of parks.
About the Role
This unique role provides state wide GIS activities and coordination and application of database management in line with state-wide standards. You will provide specialist GIS and spatial data services and technical support to personnel and incident management teams. This varied role will include supporting data collection, the development of spatial products and, where necessary, on-line publication of these products.

Essential requirements

Experience, detailed knowledge and understanding of Geographic Information Systems and application in an organisational context.

A high level of expertise with spatial data including data management, problem solving, cartographic presentation, analysis, use of imagery and air photos.

Experience across a broad range of systems and technologies including MS Office, databases, mobile and web applications, GPS mapping software.

Demonstrated, effective communication skills including the ability to provide training, mentoring, coaching and advice for a variety of systems and processes including ArcGIS, GPS, field survey techniques and use of spatial information.

Ability to capture spatial data in line with standards and policies in both the office and field, including working remotely.

A current Australian Drivers Licence, a willingness to fly in small planes/helicopters and willingness to undertake field based work in remote areas.
