The Opportunity

Are you someone who enjoys taking ownership, loves challenges and is thrilled by seeing things through while balancing the stakeholder expectations related to project cost, quality and timelines?

If yes, then we have the perfect opportunity for you as a Program Manager within the North West precinct of the Greater Sydney division at Transport for NSW. The Program Manager provides strategic advice and operational support to the senior management to support the effective execution of the nominated program and achievement of team’s goals and objectives.

In this role, you will be accountable for program performance reporting, including managing budget, forecasts, schedule and risk/issue management. We are looking for a Program Manager who has the ability to monitor and coordinate nominated programs to ensure that they are within budget allocation and conduct regular follow up with project managers. It has to be someone who has experience in coordinating with professionals across levels and divisions, to maintain their finger on the pulse and with a proven ability to exercise sound judgement, risk mitigation and problem solving ability especially in a multi- project environment. You are a self-driven, result oriented and focussed professional with the ability to collaborate, are open to working in a highly dynamic environment.

This role is best suited to someone who has advanced program management skills, perseveres when faced with obstacles, is comfortable addressing contentious issues and is self-driven. You should be able to adopt the position of subject matter expert for nominated programs and ensure consistency of practice across precincts, take ownership of policies, guidelines and training, as well as be the point of escalation for program-related matters. Identify, document, manage and/or escalate project risks, changes to project scope including the identification of alternate management strategies

Essential requirements

Extensive experience in developing, implementing and maintaining project governance frameworks
• Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated experience in providing strategic advice and support, including undertaking research and reporting.
