Purpose of Position

  • To ensure optimal outcomes for women and their families of the service through the promotion of best practice including the appropriate escalation of care.
  • To work collaboratively utilising effective team communication with members of the multidisciplinary health team in the planning, implementation, assessment and evaluation of patient care.
  • To act as an advocate for the specific needs of all women and their families including those from the indigenous population or other multi-cultural groups providing appropriate care to the woman undergoing specialised procedures.
  • To maintain and promote a professional standard evidenced by ethical midwifery practice, adherence to the policies and procedures of the Nursing and Midwifery Service, NMBLHD and the appropriate legislation and statutory regulations.
  • To provide support and clinical preceptorship/mentoring to all staff and students.
  • To effectively manage resources relevant to the service.

Selection Criteria

Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (NSW RN/Midwife) Division 1. Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment. Demonstrated effective computer skills. Recent, extensive experience in a hospital, Birth Unit setting. Current Antenatal and Postnatal knowledge and experience. Ability to work a flexible roster, day, evening and night shifts across all days of the week according to the Unit/Service requirements. Available to undertake rotation to Nepean Birth Unit for 4 weeks each year. Current NSW State Driver's licence including P1 or above.
