About us


Juvenile Justice supervises and cares for young offenders in the community and in detention centres in NSW. The division provides diversionary and community-based services, as well as custodial services in detention centres for young people on remand and on control orders.


The Juvenile Justice Division:

• Provides youth justice conferences

• Supports young offenders to obtain and meet the conditions of bail

• Supervises young people sentenced to community-based or custodial orders, young people remanded in custody and those on conditional bail

• Prepares background reports to assist courts with sentencing


About the role


The conference convenor is a statutory appointee responsible for the preparation and facilitation of Youth Justice Conferences in local communities with offenders, victims, support people, police and others affected by the offence.

Essential requirements

• Tertiary qualifications in social sciences, psychology or related discipline or equivalent experience working with families and adolescents with a demonstrated understanding of adolescent development

• Current driver’s licence and access to a vehicle

A Working With Children Check is a prerequisite for this position.
