Randstad, a global HR and recruitment company, has ranked the NSW Government in the top twenty most attractive employers in Australia for 2017. This follows the organisation’s success in the 2016 Randstad Award. NSW Public Sector joins Virgin Australia, Qantas, BAE Systems, Seven Network and ABC which also rank as some of the best places to work.
Graeme Head, Public Service Commissioner said: "We are incredibly proud to feature in Randstad's top twenty list of most attractive employers in Australia and I would like to take this opportunity to recognise the state's talented and passionate staff whose work helped to win us the award."
"People are increasingly looking for careers in government because of the variety of interesting and challenging work that's available. Employer branding is also very important to job seekers, and probably something that historically has been underdeveloped in government. We are competing with other employers - in the private and not for profit sectors- for talent, so the NSW Public Sector is rising to this challenge and strengthening our brand to tell our prospective workforce what working for government is all about. We want to continue to encourage high-calibre job seekers to apply to us and join one of the country's most desirable employers."
More than 10,000 people in Australia took part in an independent survey which placed NSW Government in the 2017 Randstad Award honour roll. Participants judged organisations on 17 signs of employer attractiveness such as: career progression opportunities, interesting job content, flexible working arrangements and salary.
As Australia's largest employer, the NSW Public Sector has ten Departments and many agencies and organisations who work together to develop policy and deliver important services such as health, education, housing, transport and infrastructure across the state. NSW Government employs around 390,000 people who each play a role in delivering vital public services and building the future of NSW.
