Hugh

“We continue to lead the spatial industry in the support and advancement of a spatially-enabled society.”

“The work that I carry out helps to create the spatial foundation datasets that both underpin the major infrastructure development currently being undertaken in NSW, and deliver authoritative NSW spatial datasets,” says Hugh, Spatial Information Officer at Land and Property Information (LPI), a division of the NSW Department of Finance, Services and Innovation.

“Our work assists not only other NSW Government agencies, but also national agencies, local councils, private industry, tertiary institutions, and the NSW public in general,” Hugh adds.

When you take into consideration the role reliable spatial data plays in safeguarding our environment, it’s easy to see why Hugh enjoys and takes pride in his day-to-day work.

“Without the survey infrastructure that’s in place today, NSW would struggle to develop into the future. Being able to contribute to that infrastructure is something to be proud of,” he enthuses.

As part of his work with the NSW Government, Hugh gets the opportunity to travel across NSW. And, fortunately, exploring NSW is something he loves to do both while at work and during his free time.

“I enjoy seeing everything this state has to offer,” he says with a smile.

“I enjoy visiting beautiful places and often go camping and fishing in my spare time.”
