Ian

“I enjoy the dynamic, engaging and flexible nature of my work.”

“I’m able to interact with university students and directly impact on their future and on society,” says a career-passionate Ian, Assistant Manager, Strategic Careers Programs for the NSW Department of Education.

“I work closely with universities to create and support promotional strategies to attract the best and brightest candidates to pursue a career in education.”

In his role, Ian aligns strategic programs and initiatives with the NSW Department of Education’s geographic and subject areas of workforce need.

“It’s challenging and at the same time very satisfying, and the feeling of accomplishment is always shared among the team,” Ian enthuses.

Ian and his team’s work offers unique opportunities for university students to expand their future employment prospects as well as to broaden their horizons.

“We offer them a chance to experience and consider working in a disadvantaged, rural, or remote community,” he explains.

Ian is currently pursuing further studies, and the NSW Government is actively encouraging him in his educational endeavours.

“I’m fortunate enough to be able to access study leave to support my studies,” he shares.

When he’s not working or studying, Ian enjoys sports, although admittedly more as a spectator than a participant.

“I also enjoy spending time with my family and sleeping!” he laughs.
