Mandar

"I started in a frontline customer service role and worked my way up".

Within a year of migrating to Australia as a young migrant, Mandar joined the NSW Government. His career has spanned 20 years within the NSW Government, and he is now a Program Manager, Operational Capacity for Sydney Trains, Future Network Delivery.

“I started in a frontline customer service role and worked my way up to the train crew, then trainee manager, project manager, and performance reporting manager, before becoming a senior executive in 2010,” he says.

In his role, Mandar takes pride in modelling good leadership to inspire direction and delivery, develop people and drive change, and lead programs from inception to delivery, which impacts thousands of staff and customers.

“The focus of the program I lead is to drive the ‘more trains more services’ initiative of the NSW government, in order to meet increasing customer demand on Sydney’s Rail network. My program has a suite of projects to provide additional, reliable and sustainable capacity,” Mandar explains.

Mandar says he also feels very fortunate to be on a path of continuous learning and development, which is evident in his impressive 20-year career. “With the support of the NSW Government, I have completed a number of qualifications, including postgraduate degrees in Business Administration, Transport Management and Railway Operations Management.”

Outside of work, Mandar loves bush walking, and has successfully completed the Oxfam 100 km walk for charity for three years running. He is also a Justice of Peace and volunteers his services to the community of NSW on a daily basis.
