Ophelia

"I look forward to lifting the standard of evidence-based policy in NSW to be world class."

Ophelia is the Director of Economic Analysis and Evaluation at NSW Treasury, where she puts evidence-based policy into practice.

“By working with agencies to improve on appraisal methods we help inform Government decisions so that public funds go to the actions and social policies that deliver the greatest public value.”

“To achieve this, my team and I work with professionals in all areas of policy and service delivery including the most challenging issues in social policy. I look forward to lifting the standard of evidence-based policy in NSW to be world class.”

Ophelia particularly enjoys the variety of work involved in her role. On a given day she might be thinking about criminal justice, health, education, and early childhood interventions.

With an undergraduate science degree and two Master’s degrees in science and public administration under her belt, it will come as no surprise that Ophelia has previously worked in Europe, Asia and Latin America where she led an international program of academic research and evidence-based energy policy development in 12 developing countries.

Now calling Australia home, Ophelia’s favourite pastimes are devoted to her two children, friends, family, travel and surfing.
