“I would travel the world.”

StudyNSW Principal Policy Officer Toshi brings his passion for travel to work with him every day.

“Travelling has always been a passion of mine - discovering new cultures and meeting new people,” Toshi says.

As part of his role, Toshi communicates with international students from around the world to showcase opportunities to study in NSW.

International education is NSW’s largest service export and second-largest export overall, which is why the NSW Government established the StudyNSW unit.

“We’re building something from the ground up, which is very exciting,” Toshi enthuses.

In his NSW Government job, Toshi has a variety of responsibilities, from promoting NSW as a study destination to drafting briefs for ministers.

Competition for international students is increasing, so, Toshi says, we need to effectively promote the wonderful study, living and working experiences NSW has to offer.

Toshi is proud to be making a positive impact on both the lives of international students in NSW and the people of NSW as a whole.

“By attracting students to NSW, we’re equipping them with the best tools for a bright future,” he says.

“At the same time, we’re also helping the people of NSW, creating jobs and contributing to the economy. I feel good about making a positive contribution to the lives of Australians and overseas students.”

Toshi thoroughly enjoys his work, and has two daughters who take up most of his spare time.

“I keep up the international theme, even at home. I only speak French with my daughters in the hope they’ll grow up bilingual,” he smiles.
