“Being passionate about what I do is important to me,” says Shantala, NSW Public Service Commission Senior Advisor.
It’s in this role that Shantala found her passion for driving Aboriginal employment initiatives within NSW.
“I work closely with NSW public sector agencies in creating new employment initiatives and professional development opportunities for Aboriginal people,” she explains.
By providing improved employment opportunities, the NSW Government is able to contribute to ‘closing the gap’ in economic participation from Aboriginal people, contributing to their enhanced employment and career outcomes, improved health, and higher standard of living.
“I get the opportunity to meet Aboriginal staff members across the NSW public sector,” Shantala says.
“Knowing that I go to work every day and work towards making a change for my community is very rewarding.”
When asked about her own family, Shantala says she has two daughters whom she adores.
“I love playing silly games with them - they make me laugh so much,” she smiles.
