“Working at NSW surprised me.”

“I started working at NSW about 25 years ago. I think that like most people, I expected it would be a staid environment, but it’s nothing like that!” says Maricel

“I work with people who are professional and passionate about what we do. I develop polices, processes and programs to help people with disability to reach their potential and to maximise the effective use of public funds,” she says.

Maricel feels driven in her role knowing that she’s serving the best interests of the people of NSW.

“I derive a great deal of satisfaction from knowing that I’ve been instrumental in bringing reform to the disability sector and am making a real contribution to people’s lives,” she enthuses.

Maricel continues to make a contribution to her community outside of work, as part of a Christian prison volunteer group.

“I visit inmates in female correctional centres to deliver support,” she says.
