Susan

“I love seeing students have that light bulb moment.”

Supporting students to reach their potential now and into the future is what Susan, School Learning Support Officer for NSW Department of Education, does on a daily basis.

“I assist with the implementation of numerous strategies to support students with their advancement of educational outcomes in mathematics. This assistance is for both the classroom teacher and students of Toormina High School,” she explains.

In her role, Susan feels driven by the opportunity she has each day she’s in the classroom to develop the skills of the students she works with and prepare them for a bright future.

“I enjoy working with a diverse range of students, seeing them gain the light bulb moment when they realise they have the skills and strategies to complete the task and achieve well in the classroom,” she relates enthusiastically.

When she’s not supporting teachers and students, Susan also takes on the role of organic farmer outside of the classroom.
