Legal Aid NSW is the largest legal aid agency in Australia, comprising of a Central Sydney office and 25 regional offices in metropolitan and regional centres across NSW and a number of specialist services and advice clinics. Working at Legal Aid NSW provides the opportunity to support people with disabilities, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, women and children, Indigenous people and people with mental illness who may experience difficulties when enforcing and defending their rights.


Undertake high level administration and some file work on a range of family law matters including: brief preparation for counsel, briefing letters to experts, administration of subpoena and material produced, preparation and co-ordination of a range of family law documents, legal research and the provision of high level assistance in offices across the State.


The successful applicant must be able to: 


• Manage a diverse and demanding workload while undertaking work in an accurate and competent manner.


• Communicate routine technical information clearly and prepare written material that is well-structured and easy to follow by the intended audience.


• Support a culture of quality customer service in the organisation.


• Complete work tasks to agreed timeframes and standards.  


• Understand the use of computers, telecommunications, audio-visual equipment or other technologies used by the organisation. 

• Undertake legal research



• Willingness to undertake a Criminal Record Check and/or working with Children Check


• Hold Australian or NZ citizenship or Australian Permanent Residency

1. Outline your experience in managing challenging workloads and competing demands in a legal or similar environment. What techniques do you use to stay highly organised, meet competing priorities and overcome challenges? 


2. Outline your experience in undertaking legal research, and provide an example of complex legal research you have conducted and the steps taken to locate legislation, case law or other extrinsic material.

The selection process will include a range of comparative assessment techniques to assist in determining capability and suitability for the role.

This recruitment will be used to fill any current vacancies and may be used to create a Talent Pool for similar future vacancies that may arise over the next 18 months.
