The Opportunity

TAFE NSW is looking for a qualified, experienced individual who wishes to be considered for a permanent teaching opportunity in Aboriginal Primary HealthThe role of the TAFE Teacher as a professional educator is to help, construct, guide and enhance the educative process. The teacher delivers educational programs and facilitates learning, enabling students to achieve their desired outcomes. This position will be located at the Port Macquarie Campus.

You are passionate about sharing your extensive industry experience. You have the ambition and drive to succeed and mentor students, passing on your experience and knowledge, and you have demonstrated experience in delivering training in an adult learning environment.

To be successful in this role you must have:

  1. An Aboriginal descent by parentage, identify as being Aboriginal and be accepted in the community as such. An applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14(d) of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. Aboriginal applicants selected for an interview will be required to provide Confirmation of Aboriginality documentation at interview.
  2. Degree, Diploma or Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, Aboriginal Health or Degree, Diploma or equivalent in a health and/or community services related discipline. Registration with AHPRA as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner or other health professional will be highly regarded.
  3. Three (3) years’ experience in the implementation of Primary Health Care for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander communities over the last five (5) years
  4. Hold the Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116) OR

Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40110), AND one of the following:

TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy & numeracy skills or its successor or TAELLN401A Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills & one of the following: TAEASS502 Design & develop assessment tools or its successor or TAEASS502A Design & develop assessment tools or TAEASS502B Design & develop assessment tools.

  1. Be prepared to continue to develop their Vocational Education and Training (VET) knowledge and skills as well as their industry currency and trainer/assessor competence.
  2. High level written and oral communication skills in English, strengths in problem solving and proven ability to communicate effectively in a wide range of educational, industrial or community environments.
  3. Proven computer literacy, including sound experience in the use of Microsoft Office suite of programs and the ability to use other specialised computer software systems.
  4. Commitment and ability to facilitate learning in an adult environment and demonstrated organisational skills applicable to an educational setting.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to quality customer service and demonstrated ability to contribute in a team environment.
