At Digital Services, we are a learning organization and believe in working collaboratively in agile, balanced and empowered product teams. We believe in working in small, cross-functional and long-lived teams that comprise of Engineers, Designers and Product Managers that have a singular agenda to serve the customer’s life journeys in a sustainable, inclusive and fun way.

We use XP practices (including TDD, pair programming and CI/CD) to design and build fast stable software and get it into our customers’ hands quickly. Being a Principal Product Engineer Coach with Service NSW

The Principal Product Engineer Coach role requires a unique set of skills that combines hands-on full stack development and technical leadership with a passion for modern ways of working and coaching and teaching others.

You will help lead a small in-house multi-disciplinary product team dedicated exclusively to coaching internal product teams in agile and lean ways of working, and in particular in Extreme Programming (XP) principles and practices.

As a Principal Product Engineer Coach, you will rotate into different existing product teams to coach and teach as you pair with engineers and get deeply involved in the day to day of that team’s mission and work.

What you will bring to this role

  • Coaching. Strong interest and ability to coach and teach others
  • Expertise. Deep experience in full-stack software development in product-oriented contexts
  • Collaboration. You encourage diversity of thought and role model cross-disciplinary collaboration, embracing the concepts of iteration and incremental improvements.
  • Customer-oriented. You are motivated by, and take ownership of, delivering valuable outcomes to the people who use our software.
  • Outstanding communication and problem-solving skills. Your exceptional facilitation and influencing skills, together with practical problem solving will see you excel in this role.
