Sydney Metro is leading Australia's biggest public transport infrastructure program, developing, delivering and operating a new world-class metro railway system for Sydney.

Australia's first fully-automated metro opened in the first half of 2019, and will extend into the Sydney city in 2024 in a $20 billion-plus program of works. Next will come a new underground metro between the Sydney CBD and Greater Parramatta.

Sydney Metro has been tasked with developing and delivering metro railways, and managing their operations. Sydney Metro also leads the development of vibrant station precincts to meet customer and community needs, transforming the way Sydney travels and helping shape the future of Australia’s largest city.

The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Communications Manager to join Sydney Metro West. If you are an experienced and passionate communications and engagement professional with demonstrated experience on major infrastructure projects then look no further.
Working with our Director Project Communications this role will be responsible for developing and implementing significant community and stakeholder relations initiatives throughout property acquisition, early planning, and project delivery.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing teams of communication specialists and have the ability to work collaboratively across different work streams to ensure a consistent approach to government agency, senior stakeholder relationships, media, issues management and marketing is undertaken.

Ideal experience, skills and personal qualities for success in this role:

The successful candidate will be degree qualified in communications, journalism, or public relations, or have relevant and demonstrated industry experience working on major infrastructure projects in community and stakeholder focussed roles.

You will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, be naturally self-motivated, and have exceptional leadership and time management capabilities. As a seasoned communication or engagement professional you will have a sound understanding of relevant statutory requirements in relation to delivering community relations on infrastructure projects.

Critical to your success in this role will be your ability to think quickly on your feet and deliver range of communications activities for both internal and external audiences.
