  • Senior Floodplain Officer with the Department of Planning and Environment
  • Permanent full-time opportunity in regional NSW
  • Located in South West NSW via negotiated flexible working arrangement (Albury or Wagga Wagga preferred)
  • EO9 offering salary range from $111,595 to $124,315 + super

The Environment and Heritage Group within DPE has an opportunity for a Senior Floodplain Officer to provide technical and policy advice to local councils and internal and external stakeholders in the effective management of floodplain programs and delivery of hazard studies and plans to manage flood risks in South West NSW.

About You

Ideally you will have:

  • Demonstrated ability in working with stakeholders to implement actions from approved plans
  • Project management experience, including monitoring and reporting on progress against milestones
  • Experience in working with Councils to influence planning and delivery, including engagement with other agencies and the local community
  • Knowledge of the NSW Government's Flood Prone Land Policy, Floodplain Development Manual and related guidelines and legislation.
  • Familiarity with development planning processes in a local government context

 Essential Requirements 

  • An understanding of floodplain risk assessment methods and floodplain management strategies
  • Experience in developing partnerships and delivering advice to multiple stakeholders and communities
  • Tertiary Qualifications in a relevant discipline
  • Current Australian driver's licence
