The Personal Injury Commission was established on 1 March 2021. The Commission is a single, independent tribunal for injured people claiming against the compulsory third party and workers compensation insurance schemes. The Commission replaced the former Workers Compensation Commission and SIRA’s Dispute Resolution Services that managed workers compensation and motor vehicle disputes.

About the roles

We are seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons for appointment to the positions of Senior Member and General Members in the Workers Compensation Division.

We are offering full time Sydney based roles for Senior and General members as well as Sessional General Member roles across regional locations.  These appointments may be made for terms up to five (5) years, with eligibility for reappointment. Flexibility to travel may be required as part of your commitment to these roles.

Salary Ranges for these roles are as follows:

Senior Member (full-time): Salary: $242,760 - $263,590 + superannuation p/a commensurate with experience.

General Member (full-time): Salary: $209,225 - $241,000 + superannuation p/a commensurate with experience.

General Member (sessional):  Hourly rate: $189.15

About you

To be considered for these opportunities you will be qualified legal practitioners of at least 5 years’ standing or, in the opinion of the Minister, possess special knowledge, skill or expertise. Demonstrated understanding of workers compensation law and practice, coupled with demonstrated alternative dispute resolution and facilitation skills and experience will be highly advantageous.
