Be a part of something special

Calling psychologists and occupational health professionals

For over 100 years, the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) has been a vital part of the community, working hard to protect life, property and the environment from bush fires.  We are the world’s largest volunteer firefighting service, with over 76,000 members, proudly built on a strong tradition of service, trust, resilience, respect, and teamwork.

The 2019-20 bush fire season saw our members serve and protect in the face of the most extraordinary circumstances – because they care about their communities and without hesitation will be there for them in tough times.

But who cares for our members, especially when the going gets tough for them?  That’s where you come in

We are looking to substantially expand our mental health and wellbeing team, to ensure the best quality support is available to our RFS volunteer and staff members now and into the future.  This means making sure we have dedicated, accessible professionals across the State (North Eastern, North Western, Western, Hunter, Greater Sydney, South Eastern, South Western, and Headquarters).

We have several exciting opportunities available for qualified professionals who are keen to make a real difference, through critical incident support, short-term counselling services and referral pathways to care, and holistic and proactive health and wellbeing programs.

  • Manager Mental Health Services (Sydney Olympic Park)
  • 7 x Senior Psychologists (Coffs Harbour, Tamworth, Cowra, Lake Macquarie, Glendenning, Moruya, Albury)
  • 7 x Psychologists (Coffs Harbour, Tamworth, Cowra, Lake Macquarie, Glendenning, Moruya, Albury)

Note: Graduate Psychologists eligible for Provisional Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA) are encouraged to apply for the Psychologist roles available.

Professional development and registration will be supported, aligned to essential qualifications for the roles.

There will never be a better time to be a part of something special, working together to support our members to deliver the best outcomes to the NSW community.  This is your chance to be involved in establishing and delivering a comprehensive State-wide mental health service to a large public service agency on the front-line.

If you are an authentic, hard-working professional with relevant qualifications – and you want to do something “more” – join us.  Submit your application through I Work for NSW by uploading:

  • A cover letter (max. two pages) which addresses the essential requirements of the role, and outlines why you believe you are suited to the role and why you are interested in the role; and
  • A resume (max. six pages) outlining your skills, experience and qualifications as well as two current referees.

Applications close at 11:59pm on Sunday 2th January 2021.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.
