STEM – SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS SCHOLARSHIPS
Approved teachers can gain financial support while undertaking further study to become a science and/or mathematics teacher in a NSW public school.
Up to 80 science and mathematics scholarships are available.
Benefits include:
• $5000 per year (12 months) of full time study
• $2500 study completion grant
• a one-off general purpose allowance of $300
• guaranteed permanent appointment as a science or mathematics teacher in an agreed location of workforce demand.

SCHOOL COUNSELLOR SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM
Approved teachers, you could get paid a full time teacher salary while you study to become a school counsellor in a NSW public school through the department's School Counsellor Sponsorship Program.
There are three sponsorship pathways available. Find out which pathway is right for you, depending on your current qualifications:
Approved teachers are supported to complete an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) approved psychology major over one or two years. Upon successful completion of the Psychology Sponsorship Program, participants enter into either the Rural or Metropolitan School Counsellor Sponsorship Program.
Benefits include:
• payment of tuition fees associated with the studies
• reimbursement of approved travel (if applicable) and/or accommodation to attend compulsory face to face sessions where overnight accommodation is necessary
• guaranteed permanent appointment as a school counsellor in an agreed location of workforce demand on completion of the Rural or Metro School Counsellor Sponsorship Program.
Approved teachers who have an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) approved psychology major with a minimum credit average are supported for two years to study via distance whilst working as a rural school counsellor-in-training.
Benefits include:
• full time teacher salary during the period of sponsorship (two years)
• payment of tuition fees associated with the studies
• a general purpose allowance of $300
• reimbursement of approved travel (if applicable) and/or accommodation to attend compulsory face to face sessions where overnight accommodation is necessary
• guaranteed permanent appointment as a school counsellor in a non-coastal rural NSW location.
Approved teachers who have an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) approved psychology major with a minimum credit average are supported for two years to study whilst working as a metro school counsellor-in-training.
Benefits include:
• full time teacher salary during the period of sponsorship (two years)
• payment of tuition fees associated with the studies
• a general purpose allowance of $300
• reimbursement of approved travel (if applicable) and/or accommodation to attend compulsory face to face sessions where overnight accommodation is necessary
• guaranteed permanent appointment as a school counsellor in an agreed location of workforce demand.
