People with disability

A culture proud to ask “What works for you?”

We want our workforce to reflect the community we serve, and that includes people with disability.

Disability includes long-term physical, mental health, intellectual, neurological, or sensory differences which, in interaction with various attitudinal and environmental barriers, may hinder full and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others.

Disability may be present from birth, acquired due to illness or accident, or be part of the ageing process. Many disabilities are not visible, for example diabetes or dyslexia, and some may only affect the person sometimes.

Everyone should have fair and equal access to employment opportunities.

Our commitment

We are committed to building inclusive and safe workplaces for all NSW public sector employees. As one of the Premier’s Priorities, we are working to increase the roles held by people with disability in the public sector to 5.6% by 2025.

We are doing this by:

  • inviting people with disability to apply for more roles and then providing meaningful employment opportunities
  • building a culture of inclusion across our workforce
  • removing barriers so that our workplaces are accessible to all.

We encourage you to consider applying for a role with us. Learn more about how we recruit and information to help you prepare your application.
